2026 Color Trends Perfect for Your New Home

2026 saw an influx of color in interior design. There’s been a steady move away from gray and beige over the past few years and that trend is continuing into 2027. A lot of the colors of 2026 are expected to be just as popular next year, so if you’re looking at homes in Lake Oconee and want to start planning some interior decor, you won’t go wrong with the color trends that are already accessible.

While gray and beige may not be in vogue, that doesn’t mean neutrals aren’t still an option. Earthy tones have been and are expected to remain popular, particularly warm, earthy colors. Instead of beige, look for a warmer lemon-vanilla if you still prefer a lighter color. Warm browns, from mushrooms to rich milk chocolate, and yellowish-orange ochres are other popular neutrals that serve as great backdrops for pops of other on-trend colors.

As color has come back in fashion, there have been forays into neons and other vivid tones, but this year and next are seeing colors that look a little aged and faded, in a cozy, lived-in look that adds comfort and warmth. They’re still colorful, just not so vivid.

A desaturated sky blue is a great example that goes well with the warmer browns and wood. It pairs beautifully with so many colors and adds some brightness to a room. Trim, curtains, throw blankets, and even enamel bakeware are all great options that add a French countryside vibe to any room.

Warm, faded yellows are another option. They look great on walls with white or cream trim for the look of a lazy summer day. Tea towels, candles, and lampshades on wooden lamp bases are other great ways to incorporate this sunny color.

Pistachio-chartreuse is another complementary color that actually works well with earthy red, orange, and yellow tones. It’s a soft green, but still with character. You can go with lighter shades leaning more to the pistachio or explore the earthier chartreuse tones. Both are great in glass, ranging from light pendants to decorative bowls, but also look great in rugs and throws, especially when layered or paired with the reds and oranges.

While earthy reds are great complements to many of the on-trend colors this year, rich reds and burgundys have their own place for real impact. From decorative glass pieces to rugs, and even sofas and walls, there’s room for some bold use of this color.

Don’t be afraid to layer and mix colors. Warm wheat walls with a sage sofa, faded orange curtains and pops of sky blue side tables, with warm wood floors creates a space that is inviting and cheerful, while still being somewhere you can relax and unwind.
